Analysis:
- Josh Hart another strong physicality game from Hart, leading in many categories. Set a lot of screens but also active on defense with absorbing contact and being handsy/hounding the Celtics.
- Jalen Brunson was especially tough in this one, stil targeted on defense and subjected to a lot of holding and bumping on offense. He took all that and meted out his own physicality while delivering a standout scoring performance. A masterclass in creating space to get his shot off.
- KAT often a focal point on offense for the Knicks to generate high force level 2+ plays. Led all players with 12 of those. A good mix of physical activity, with more than usual offball screens, rebounding tangles, and absorbing a lot of iso drives against.

Analysis:
- Jayson Tatum was having a marvelous game until the sad injury. His physicality was markedly better than in previous games, and was showcasing it particularly on the offensive end.
- Jaylen Brown with a very quiet physicality game by his standards, aside from the knockdowns. Which again makes it seem like he is not fully 100% healthwise. Can he bounceback and be the hero in game five?
- White/Holiday two of the key roleplayers who have done so much to help the Celtics, both in winning last year and the earlier games of this series, were both net negatives on the physicality in game four as the Knicks' collectively raised their force level.
Game Four Signature Physicality Moments
- Q1 (11:46) Knicks set the tone on the first play
Right from the get go the Knicks were 'hitting first' with offball and onball screens. It won't be like the last game Boston. - Q1 (10:33) Knicks shake off the holding
The Celtics are grabbing and holding like crazy but Towns gets free of Horford cuts to the rim and finishes over White. - Q1 (3:20) Hart takes the hit for the team
Battling hard against a Brown postup, Jaylen swings his arm wildly sending Hart to the ground for the offensive foul. - Q2 (8:55) Intense physicality both ways
Payne grabs Jrue, Horford sets long duration screen in return, but Payne fights to get his hand on the ball, Kornet hard screen on Bridges, Mitch bumps Brown to derail his drive, Towns gives a shoulder to Kornet as he moves down the lane, but then Kornet screens Towns and Horford drains the open three. - Q2 (6:32) Towns stymies Brown
Brown iso's Towns with a hard drive but KAT delivers the hard bump and Brown throwns up a wild shot and falls. The Knicks take the 5on4 break the other way for a splash three -- timeout Boston! - Q3 (9:58) Towns gets the best of Jrue
on an under out of bounds play Towns sets a good screen to free Bridges, keeps Jrue above him and cuts to the rim for an open dunk. - Q3 (7:39) Brown with the mental error
Hart pushes it upcourt fast, Jrue absorbs the initial drive well but Brunson is open for three and Brown commits the flagrant sliding his feet into the landing area. Turns into a four point possesion to get the Knicks close again. - Q3 (2:53) Porzingis could look for better
KP has Hart on a postup seeming mismatch but settles for a fading sideways jumper and then looks to the ref for a bailout which isn't coming. - Q4 (10:17) McBride shining moment
McBride fights through two offball screens, then an onball one to hound Pritchard into a loose pass that OG intercepts. - Q4 (6:12) Tatum won't be denied
Jayson uses a multiple bump drive on Anunoby as OG bumps back, near double dribble, but winds up with the and one to tie the game. - Q4 (3:06) The Play that may decide the series
White screens Bridges who fights over gets a hand on the ball to knock away from Brown, both Brown and Bridges fall in the collision, OG and Tatum make a break for the ball but Tatum crumples to ground with a likely devestating injury as OG gets the runout dunk.
Final Take
The Knicks didn't just take Game Four - they took control of the series. From the opening possession, they made it clear: this wouldn't be like Game Three. Towns set bruising screens, Hart took hits and kept coming, and the Knicks' depth once again overwhelmed Boston's stars.By the fourth quarter, the analysis was clear - New York was out-toughing Boston. And when the pivotal play came, it wasn't Brunson or Tatum at center stage. It was Bridges fighting through contact, OG grabbing the loose ball, and Tatum collapsing to the floor, the Celtics' hopes possibly falling with him.
This was a war of attrition - and the Knicks are still standing, up 3-1.
